Marge Brown (102 Grey Place) Over the years Marge Brown has dabbled in painting, both in oil and watercolor. In the early 2000’s, she settled on watercolor as her preferred medium and has enjoyed painting for family and friends ever since.
Cheryl Swann (also at 102 Grey Place) Cheryl is an aspiring artist in pastels, watercolors, and oils. She draws inspiration from the French impressionists, especially the landscapes of Monet and Renoir. Many of her paintings convey an atmospheric energy in which she seeks to capture the moment in light, shadow and subtle coloring.
Kathleen Cronin (222 Old Towne) has been painting for over 40 years. Oils and watercolor are her favorite mediums. Nature is her favorite subject.
Bridget Allen (also at 222 Old Towne) was introduced to encaustic painting during a trip to Maui in late 2019. At once, this medium became her obsession. During the pandemic with nothing much to do, she began her journey with encaustics by taking online training, watching YouTube videos, and even found a local artist and teacher. If you’re walking down Old Towne drive on a nice day, you may find her working in her garage with a little dog at her side. Stop by and say hello.
Judith Wylie (1124 Bastion Cir) Judith was a word person not an artist. She spent a career at a newspaper slinging words not paint. After retirement, a talented abstract artist in her community decided to teach art. He hustled up a space, materials, and enthralled acolytes. After toying with realism, Judith embraced abstract art. It was a good fit. No more landscapes and flowers for her: bold colors and shapes reigned. A few accolades followed. More encouragement. Today she paints mostly for herself, and has accrued a huge collection. See for yourself.
Cathy Dunn (1127 Bastion Cir) began her journey into watercolor after moving to Mt. Juliet in late 2017. Local watercolor classes inspired her and she has continued to learn through tutorials, workshops and online classes. She is drawn to reference photos that tell a story for her paintings. Her style is representational with a soft ethereal quality. Cathy is represented by All About Art gallery in Hendersonville, Picture This gallery in Hermitage and Gulf Coast Arts Alliance in Gulf Shores, Alabama. You can see more of her art on her website at https://dunnwatercolor.com.
Candy Housley (also at 1127 Bastion Cir) was an art major in college at San Diego State, but hasn’t taken the time to get back into serious painting for many years. She enjoys Bob Smith’s art classes and loves to paint and draw anything nature related.
Sarah Cochrane (1133 Bastion Cir) has been painting for about 40 years. She is mostly self-taught but has taken workshops and classes throughout the years. She paints in oils and pastels, mostly focusing on oils. She and her husband travel a lot so many paintings have to do with their travels. She also likes to paint flowers seen on hikes or from traveling. Besides painting as a hobby, Sarah enjoys gardening and playing bridge.
Bob Smith (272 Salient) tried many mediums over the years and then met an accomplished artist, teaching watercolor, when he and his wife moved into the community. His love of watercolor came quickly and easily. He is drawn to a good story or a compelling pattern in nature that will catch the viewers’ attention. Bob considers himself an interpretive artist, somewhat realistic, but also thought provoking. Bob is active in the community, managing workshops in both watercolor and drawing.
Leigh Branham (also at 272 Salient) began taking oil painting and drawing lessons in 2018 after a lifetime of saying “someday…” . He enjoys painting detailed realistic landscapes, but plans to move in the direction of more expressive and semi-abstract art. Leigh’s paintings can be seen on Facebook at LeighBranhamArt.
